Grimm’s Fairy Tales
I love fairy tales and I love old lithograph illustrations from the 1930s and 40s. Last semester I had an MFA class that required us to make a book, so I chose to illustrate a collection of Grimm’s Fairy Tales. I took a lot of inspiration from Ruth Chrisman Gannett, Leonard Weisgard and Ingri & Edgar Parin D’Aulaire. I created all the illustrations digitally in a technique that mimics lithography. I chose a limited color palette to go along with that old print feel. The stories include Sleeping Beauty, Rapunzel and The Frog Prince.
